Expectations from delegates for RBSMUN 2016

With the most awaited event of the month coming up in a matter of few days, expectations are soaring high. Whether you’re a delegate who’s keen to bag an award this MUN or a delegate who wants to finally start participating, read up on the expectations that your Dais has from you for the main days and definitely follow if you want to be in their good books!

Well versed with Rules of Procedure
In the main three days, there should be no room for silly errors such as confusing points of information for points of order. Having conducted five practice sessions, the delegates are expected to know the rules of procedure by now and be well versed with them.
Draft comprehensive resolutions
Delegates should be able to come up with creative and not generic issues regarding the topic. Following discussion on these, they should also be able to draft comprehensive resolutions on the said issues that will show that they’ve come a far way.
Be able to utilize research
For the main days, the delegates should not only do extensive research but more importantly, be able to utilize and use their research accordingly. They should be able to manipulate the information they have and use it for their own benefit.
To speak if they’ve voted for a motion
Nothing is more frustrating than when a motion is passed with more than two-thirds majority but delegates then refuse to comment or give stance on the given issue. If you’ve raised your placard for a motion, then please have something to say.
More aggression, more heated debates
Sure, the participation has increased over the past few practice sessions but it gets boring if the same procedure is repeated over and over again. And it definitely would be even more redundant during the main days. So, we want to see delegates making more aggressive comments thus, contributing to more intense and passionate debates.
Rigor in words
There should be more rigor and weight in the comments that delegates make. Anyone can make half hearted and general comments if forced to so if you really want to make an impact, then speak carefully. There should be substance and proper content in your speeches and comments.
To be toe to toe with the foreign delegates
We’ve all heard, if not seen, how fierce and passionate the foreign delegates can be while debating. And the last thing the Execs would want is for the national delegates to be intimidated by them and not be able to perform up to their potential. So, delegates, definitely up your game and try to be on par with the foreign delegates.
To have fun and enjoy
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy so amidst the debates, lobbying and resolution-writing, we definitely want the delegates to enjoy and make the most of the main three days.
