Passive-Agressive SPECPOL (Shlesha and Shukirti)

The agenda set for the day was “Addressing the Situation of the Occupied Territory in Azerbaijan”. As always, the delegate of Poland was the first speaker for the general speaker’s list. As per the topic, the delegate of Poland was targeting Azerbaijan regarding their territory. However, the delegate of UAE had her say in the topic countering the statements made by the delegate of Poland. Poland believed that forming a new committee would be much more beneficial and productive for solving the problems. However UAE disagreed, mentioning that one should focus on making the existing organization more efficient in solving the problems rather than wasting time making a new one. Furthermore she demanded the delegate of Poland to suggest measures on preventing any sort of hostility among member nations who have had a bad history in the past. Delegate of Denmark and the delegate of Canada were enthusiastic in asking questions to the delegates giving their speech producing a rather interesting debate.

In tow with the national delegates were the international delegates. The delegate from India, representing the Russian federation was very powerful with her words, giving impactful speeches.  She made her points without hesitation and answered questions given by her fellow delegates with great confidence. In a certain debate about coming to a common ground on a problem when the delegate of USA stated: “You are the mediator but you’re not acting like one.” The delegate of Russia savagely replied; “The USA itself is supplying ammunition to both the countries,” which gained a lot of applause from the other delegates in the committee.

Even though all delegates have not participated, the committee still is very active and the debate is heating up gradually.
We interviewed Ishanika, an international delegate from the Cathedral
1)            One word to describe the Committee?
-              Interactive
2)            Who do you think can win the “Best delegate award” in this committee?
-              Either France or Poland
3)            You must have been to many other MUNs. Which one do you like better?
-              I actually like the RBSMUN because the Dais members are not unnecessarily strict like they are in most MUNs and the debate heated too.
