Humanity VS Human Rights (HRC)

Migrants are amongst the extremely vulnerable members of the society and are often found to be highly exploited and deprived of every right they are entitled to as humans. As the GSL continued, the delegates of HRC debated on maintaining human rights in Europe’s migration. Nations gave their stances on the swelling issue of migration that has been plaguing the European nations.

In one of the moderated caucuses, “EU Turkey deal” delegates discussed how best to handle migrant crisis and tried to reach an agreement as well discuss the consequences for the injustice done against the migrants. According to the deal, EU nations pledged 3 billion pounds and political concession in exchange for more efforts to curb the flow of migrants to Europe who was criticized for having “unacceptable humanitarian consequences”.

When the delegate of Kenya accused European nations for not having taken in a single migrant, the whole committee flared up claiming that Germany alone has taken in more than 1 million migrants.

The committee progressed with the second moderated caucus,” Gulf States’ responsibilities in taking in refugees”. Following this caucus, Qatar was blamed for not accepting any refugees from Syria. As a result all migrants were forced to seek refuge in European nations.
