The day started with the bang of the chair’s gavel along with her warm and electric smile. The dais were all ecstatic to start the MUN session and the delegates reciprocated the excitement with enthusiastic responses to the roll call. Some delegates were participating for the first time, the others for the 4th or 5th time, yet all of them were bubbling with energy.
The delegate of Switzerland was extremely enthusiastic and
spoke throughout the morning. The chair and the vice- chair both recognized the
delegate’s points and acknowledged them with a nod of their heads. The international delegates were outstanding
in UNES. They seemed to rule this committee. The international delegates gave a
lot of points on how to solve the issue – eradicating poverty through a green
environment.
The committee resumed from lunch with delegates looking more
prepared. The delegate of USA gave her speech with in depth analysis on the
topic. She presented all her points clearly upon the committee. The delegate of
Switzerland showed his level of research with his comments to the delegate of
USA.
The selection of the best dressed delegates kept the
delegates anxious after the speech, as everyone sat straight trying to show
their long prepared outfits. The delegate of India –adorning a navy blue Kurta –
and the delegate of Mexico – wearing a fitting and flattering Daura Surwal with
Dhaka Topi – were selected as the best dressed delegates of the UNES for the
first day. The committee then stirred into action with the delegate of Rwanda giving
an exceptionally exemplary speech. The next moderated caucus involved more active
delegates such as Russia. Throughout the session, the affable and warm
executive board encouraged silent delegates to speak up. Furthermore, the
committee discussed about the green investments – an issue of concern –with the
dais giving the topic extra emphasis.
The delegates stated their respective stances, policies and
acts on the topic. The delegate of Rwanda’s chit to the USA was met with
interest from the dais and shared amongst the committee, leaving the delegate of
USA tense and flustered.
