Good shoes take you to good places…

We spend most of  our time to figure out the perfect pair of shoes for different occasions. Casual sneakers, high fashion heels and delegate dance flats have all been seen on the floors of the RBS MUN building through out the MUN and the practice sessions. Though the struggle is real when it comes to wearing Stilettos  during the RBS MUN, the constant clicking sound of the heels on the cooridoors are strangely satisfying. Women who were shorter than the guys in their class feel a certain satisfaction when they gain some height from the heels and become as tall as the guys. 
 

Why do women go through all the pain? Why do they Wear heels and risk falling? They are questions often asked. Well, Christian Louboutin says anything to look good.

Especially on the day of delegate dance, we see the ladies pull off their outfits, wearing heels by day and flats by evening. Flats so that they have maximum mobility to run around, dance and most importantly enjoy  the night.

1.Hard to wear

Traditional outfits may look good to the eye but they can be a real pain in the ass when it comes to wearing them. With the several pins you have to attach in order to make your outfit not fall apart, to the perfect pleats you have to make, this thing is complicated as hell. To make it worse there are way too many strings to be tied up (ain’t nobod

y got time for that).

2.High maintenance

Along with the complicated steps you have to fulfill in order to look nice, you also have to put a lot of effort in order keep your outfit from falling apart. You can’t walk in your outfit like you normally do when wearing dresses or jeans (we wish we could). You have to walk very carefully to make sure you don’t trip, step on your sari/shawl or and fall flat on your face - which undoubtedly will be embarrassing. And that’s not all! You must make sure you don’t spill any food or drinks on your outfit because you don’t want an ugly yellow stain ruining your appearance (especially if your outfit is a borrowed one).

3.Expensive

Let’s be real here, traditional outfits are expensive and you’re probably borrowing it from someone since we don’t wear traditional that much. The main problem is not only the cost but also the fact that these clothes can only be worn at some special occasions. And these occasions only happen once in a blue moon. So most of you’ll regret buying that expensive outfit and it'll probably just be stuffed in a dark corner of your wardrobe.

                                                                                      4.Accessorizing the outfit

Obviously we need some great accessories to go with our traditional outfits.  If you’re wearing simple outfits then wear bold accessories. If you’re wearing a flashy outfit then wear minimal amount of accessories. It is very simple, right? As they say it is easier said than done. Finding the perfect accessories is definitely not an easy task. One can’t just randomly pick an ear ring in the morning and hope to rock her outfit. The right ear ring, bracelet or necklace needs proper planning. It may be easy for guys, who don’t have to do anything except wear a ‘Dhakatopi’ if they wish. But for girls, the struggle is real. 

5.Toilet disaster

‘How am I going to pee?’ is the first thought that comes in one’s mind when they wear a saree. Putting on the saree is one hurdle but taking it off to pee is another. Peeing is one hard task that everyone wants to avoid when they are wearing traditional. The struggle for the strings on the surwal and bunching up your sari in order to pee is very REAL.

Everyone in RBSMUN loves to dress up! Every year RBSMUN looks like a fashion runway with girls striding in high heels across the hallways in fabulous outfits only to be noticed by the photographers in hopes of winning the Best Dressed. So here I am giving you the tips which  may get you the Best Dressed of the day.

Classy but not Tacky

A plain old black suit, white shirt and black tie is a classic for men. This outfit is very simple yet makes one look very sophisticated. If you don’t have a plan on standing out, then this is the outfit for you men. But for men who love to stand out and experiment the latest trends, dark suits with patterns is an option. Nevertheless, bright suits are a straight no-no.  A pop of color here and there is fine but wearing bright colors for suit is a serious fashion disaster in MUN (for men). ‘Trendy is the last stage of tacky’.

Glam it up 

Let us start with the wardrobe must have, trench coats. Trench coats and bold patterns outfits are extremely ‘in’ right now. With a trench coat, you will always look formal, no matter what you wear inside (so you lazy folks). Bold patterned clothing items always brings some fun in your outfit and is the best way to glam up. Along with pattern clothing, in case you think your outfit is missing something out, a statement piece ornament/accessory just perfectly balances the whole outfit out. 

Mind the length

Dressing up for MUN is very exciting and fun. But girls tend to forget that they are attending a conference. So, this leads to short dresses which is way high up the knee. Wearing short skirt or dresses way above your knee is a red flag. You don’t want to flash anyone now do you (specially the Dias)? The other thing that girls wear and regret wearing are heels. We all love wearing a pair of heels. It makes our legs look long and they are very pretty. But as pretty as it looks, it can also give you the worse pain which leads to awkward walks and walking bare feet at the end of the day. So, to prevent this I advice wear heels that you are comfortable to walk in and not something  that’ll make you fall head first. Comfort is key girls.

Warm it up

Now unfortunately RBSMUN this year is in the cold December. Guys and girls make sure you wear some warm clothes to keep you warm in your committees because RBS rooms have the tendency of being super cold due to the tiled floors and walls. So, unless you’re Elsa who does not get affected by the cold, I recommend wear warm clothes and please don’t ditch them for the sake of looking good. You don’t want to shiver while debating.
