If you’re a
delegate, you know the
pressure of lobbying, especially if you're representing a P5 country and allies
are more powerful than veto power. Lobbying is really important in order to
pass a resolution and avoid any idle debates that lead to a disorderly
committee. Make sure that even if you’re not the one sponsoring the resolution, you choose
to be signatories for resolutions according to your country’s stance. If your side of the
resolution isn’t
getting enough votes, you must be able to lobby with delegates from the
opposing bloc and persuade them to vote for your resolution.
If you’re the one submitting the resolution
then make sure your resolution is based on an unanimous decision and is
coherent enough for the ally countries to comprehend and agree with. Resolution
writers should provide concrete evidence on how their solutions are more
effective so as to lure more supporters. In addition, you should also merge
resolutions for a wider range of perspectives and solutions. Do not be
obstinate about writing all the resolutions by yourself. Let’s be honest delegates, that’s helping no one. Also, be polite and
courteous. A good verbose helps a lot more than aggressive lobbying.
Lastly, if words
fail, use physical means (by that we don't mean use fists). Chocolates are a
pretty good choice because frankly speaking everybody love chocolates.
